Linda B. Cherry

Linda Marie Beaver Cherry died peacefully in Mt. Pleasant, SC on February 14, 2025 after a long battle with dementia. She was surrounded with love by her daughters during her final days.
Linda is survived by her daughters Amy C. McLaughlin and husband, Scott McLaughlin of Elon, NC and Lora C. Abdou and husband, Jeff Abdou of Daniel Island, SC, brother, Tommy Beaver of China Grove, NC, sister-in-law Nadine Cherry and brother-in-law Glenn Cherry of Landis, NC.
Her survivors also include her beloved grandchildren David McLaughlin and wife, Jamie McLaughlin of Burlington, NC, Emily McLaughlin of Raleigh, NC, Rachel McLaughlin and husband Andrew Rattanavong of Greensboro, NC, Sarah McLaughlin of Elon, NC, Nate Abdou and Pete Abdou of Daniel Island, SC.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, David H. Cherry, Jr, her brother, Bennett Beaver, and sister, Phyllis Beaver Ritchie.
Linda was born on June 18, 1944 in Cabarrus County to Lewis and Della Beaver.
Linda worked many years at Cannon Mills in Kannapolis, NC and in 2002, she was employed by Kannapolis City Schools as a teacher assistant until her retirement in 2010. During retirement she enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
We will have a Visitation on Saturday, April 12 beginning at 12:30 pm followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1:30 pm both held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Kannapolis, NC where Linda and David were active members for more than 40 years.
A private family gathering will be held following the service in the Scatter Garden at Carolina Memorial Park in Concord, NC where both Linda and David’s ashes will be scattered.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cooper River Post Acute in Mt. Pleasant, SC for their loving care over the last four years and to Heartland Hospice of Charleston for their care and support to mom and our family during her final days.
