About
Michael Paul Long

Michael Paul Long (Mickey)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Paul Long, better known to those who loved him as Mickey. He peacefully left us on March 19, 2025.
Michael was born on April 1, 1950, in Dillon, SC, to David Paul Long and Edith Catherine Collins Long, both of whom predeceased him. He proudly served in the Navy for several years, a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of duty and commitment to others.
Michaels' greatest pride and joy were his family, He was a man who showed us, through his actions, what it meant to be hardworking, dependable, and honest. His sacrifices were always made quietly but never went unnoticed. As a father, Michael was a role model, providing not just for his children, but for everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
His love and guidance will continue to echo in our hearts for the rest of our lives.
Michael leaves behind his children, Catherine Michelle Long of Dillon, Madeline (Steven) Schoolfield of West Columbia; grandchildren, Connor and Scarlett Schoolfield, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his brother, D.L. Long (Chireen), and his sisters-in-law, Joan Long and Connie W. Long of Latta, along with many nieces and nephews who cherished him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Hayes Long, with whom he shared many years of love and companionship, as well as his brothers, Kenneth and Dale Long.
We will miss him more than words can express, but we find comfort knowing his legacy of love, integrity, and devotion will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
